Hardware-Software Integration of Electronic Components for Quantum Systems

Within the Cluster4Future QVLS-iLabs, research is being conducted on various future scenarios such as an ion-based quantum computer or atom interferometry for gravimetry. Among other things, lasers for the control and cooling of ions as well as processes for the cost-effective industrial production of ion trap chips are being developed.

In addition to hardware production, however, other major challenges for the operation of quantum systems include the generation of control signals and the electromagnetic environment.

The QVLS-iLabs project HIQS addresses these challenges. Within the framework of HIQS, normal-conducting as well as superconducting resonators are being developed to supply different ion trap designs with the signals required for operation. In order to address the problems caused by the omnipresent magnetic fields that often interfere with quantum systems, HIQS also investigates methods for suppressing interference fields and for actively stabilizing magnetic fields.

The goals of HIQS are the generation of scalable control signals and the stabilization of quantum systems in electromagnetically disturbed environments.

The project has been successfully completed.
