QBattIO
Magnetic Camera with Integrated Optics for the Characterization of Lithium-Ion Batteries
The electrification of mobility and energy supply is increasing the demand for powerful, safe and long-lasting batteries. To ensure end-of-line quality in production and resource efficiency along the entire value chain, precise and fast measurement methods are essential. In industrial production, however, existing testing methods are limited because they measure global variables, are too slow or are not sufficiently scalable.
The QVLS-iLabs project QBattIO is developing a high-resolution magnetic imaging system based on highly sensitive quantum sensors. This makes it possible to visualize current flows and structural inhomogeneities in battery cells without contact and to reliably assess their quality and performance.
In the current project phase, the demonstrator is being specifically further developed for use in industrial battery cell production and tested together with application partners. QBattIO thus strengthens quality assurance in the series production of electric vehicle batteries while also opening up perspectives for applications in materials research and medical technology.
