KOAQS
Compact Atomic Source for Quantum Sensors
For many quantum technology applications and some future scenarios of QVLS-iLabs, laser-cooled atoms play an important role – whether in portable atomic clocks or in atom interferometry. But where do the atoms required for this come from, and will quantum technology non-experts soon also be able to operate such an atomic source?
The KOAQs project is researching answers to these questions. Within the framework of KOAQS, a demonstrator of a compact and robust atomic source for ultracold, neutral atoms is being developed as a turnkey component for quantum technology applications. With a fiber-based laser connection, a newly developed robust atom oven and easy adaptation to different types of atoms, simple use in science and industry without extensive adjustment should become possible.
