The Future of Quantum Technology is nine years old
Last week, we were at IdeenExpo GmbH 2026 in Hannover, and something stayed with us. A child stood in front of our ion trap demonstrator and asked: "But how does it know where to stay?" That is the kind of question that, if nurtured correctly, becomes a PhD thesis, a startup, or a breakthrough.
The people who will build the quantum computers of 2040 are currently in school. Some of them visited our stand last week. And the curiosity we saw in their eyes was everything.
At QVLS, education is built into what we do. At IdeenExpo, our partners from Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB brought the Quantum Escape Room, a Quantum VR experience from the Technische Universität Braunschweig and the chance to solder your very own Schrödinger's Cat. Our ecosystem games, Skiddle the Science Riddle and the Quantum Campus board game, made the core ideas of quantum science something you can play at a table with friends. And we were proud to share the hall with our neighbours from Technische Universität Braunschweig and Leibniz Universität Hannover, which will be the home of the start of many of their careers :)
Beyond IdeenExpo, the QuantumFrontiers Masterclasses bring cutting-edge research directly into schools, the foeXlab team from Leibniz Universität Hannover brings hands-on quantum experiments for all ages and our QVLS Winter School gives early-career researchers a week of intensive learning every February in Hannover.
The innovators who will shape our world are already here. We are proud to be part of building the foundation they will one day stand on.
