EPIQS
Highly Efficient Photonic Interconnects for Quantum Sensors with Optical Interfaces
In almost all applications of quantum technology, optical connections play a central role. Whether single photons, laser light or other optical signals – they need to be transmitted between different components efficiently, precisely and with low losses. High-performance and reliable interconnect technologies are therefore a crucial foundation for scalable quantum systems.
The QVLS-iLabs project EPIQS is dedicated to precisely this challenge. The goal is to develop commercially applicable optical interconnect and coupling technologies specifically tailored to the requirements of quantum technologies. The focus is on high efficiency, modularity, scalability and robustness.
Key components include optimized fiber solutions, fiber arrays and photonic integrated chips. With these technologies, EPIQS creates the basis for high-performance, flexible and future-proof quantum systems and thus supports numerous other developments within quantum technologies.
