AMETIQ
Industrial Value Chain for the Automated Integration of Ion Trap Quantum Processors
Ion trap-based quantum processors are considered a promising foundation for future quantum computers. However, their production has so far been characterized by complex manual assembly steps that are time-consuming, error-prone and difficult to reproduce. This makes it difficult to scale and industrially manufacture powerful systems.
The QVLS-iLabs project AMETIQ is developing an automatable and economically viable process chain for the integration of ion trap quantum processors. The goal is to replace manual manufacturing steps with precise and reproducible processes and thus significantly improve reliability, degree of integration and scalability.
The focus is on glass components with electrical, thermal and optical interfaces as well as laser-based joining processes that enable automated assembly. Building on the preliminary work from INTEGER, a highly integrated demonstrator is being developed that paves the way for industrially manufacturable quantum processors and powerful quantum computer platforms.
